Invisalign is a globally recognised clear aligner system that has proven to be effective for correcting most types of teeth conditions and complexities. Otherwise known as invisible braces, these aligners are virtually invisible, soft, comfortable and removable, which means you can continue eating your favourite food, and playing sports and musical instruments.
Invisalign uses a 3D computerised imaging software (ClinCheck®) to accurately simulate your teeth movement from start to end. This system is backed by its clinically proven record of straightening *11 million patients’ teeth worldwide.
*Data taken from Invisalign website.
Invisalign is able to correct a wide range of teeth alignment problems (known as malocclusions) including overcrowding, overjet, underbite, crossbite, open bite and spacing.
Overcrowding is when there is insufficient room in your jaw for your teeth to fit normally.
Your teeth can bunch up, overlap, twist, or get pushed to the front or back.
An excessive overjet, also known as buck teeth, is when your upper front teeth extend too far horizontally over your lower front teeth.
This is not to be confused with an overbite, which is a vertical overlap of the lower teeth by the upper.
An underbite is when your lower teeth and jaw protrude in front of the upper teeth.
Severe cases may cause difficulty chewing food or challenges when speaking.
A crossbite is when some of your upper teeth sit behind your lower teeth.
This may lead to abnormal tooth wear and chipping.
An open bite is when your upper and lower teeth do not touch when your mouth is closed.
This may affect your appearance and cause speech problems like having a lisp.
Spacing is when there is a gap between two or more of your teeth.
It may cause speech problems and food can get stuck easily.
In this video, Founder and Principal Surgeon of i.Dental, Dr. Cheng Eng Wah shares more about Invisalign, its treatment process and plans at i.Dental.
Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign aligners are clear, virtually invisible and less noticeable. They allow for a natural look so you can smile boldly and confidently even while undergoing treatment.
With Invisalign, you can go about your daily activities such as playing an instrument and sports without fear of broken brackets or bent wires. For contact sports, you can remove your aligners to prevent them from cracking.
Invisalign makes it easier for you to maintain good dental hygiene as you can easily remove the aligners to brush and floss your teeth normally. This promotes healthier gums and teeth and ensures that your oral health is not compromised during treatment.
Braces come with dietary restrictions such as avoiding crunchy, hard and sticky foods. Since Invisalign aligners are removable, they allow you to enjoy your favourite food even during treatment. Just remember to remove them before your meals and when drinking coffee, tea or wine to avoid stains!
Invisalign’s patented SmartTrack material applies a gentle, consistent pressure to shift your teeth to their desired position. As such, you are likely to experience less pain or soreness. To ensure a more comfortable fit, Invisalign aligners are trimmed and customised to fit the shape of your gum line.
While braces require you to visit the dentist every 4 to 8 weeks, you are only required to visit your dentist every 8 to 12 weeks with Invisalign. If you opt for Dental Monitoring, the frequency of your dental appointments can be further reduced to every 12 weeks.
Invisalign makes use of a proprietary software, ClinCheck®, supported by the data from 11 million patients.
The software’s algorithm allows your dentist to design a customised treatment plan for you, calculating the correct amount of force needed to move every tooth.
After capturing a 3D image of your teeth, you can witness a detailed simulation of your treatment process before committing to a decision.
From consultation to completion, the Invisalign process is closely supervised by a licensed dentist. These dentists possess the orthodontic knowledge to recommend suitable treatment options for specific cases and tooth movements.
With the directed process, you will be informed about your treatment plan, receive guidance on how to properly wear aligners and have any concerns or uncertainties addressed promptly.
Invisalign aligners are created with a medical-grade polymer known as SmartTrack®. This material is engineered by Align Technology after testing 260 materials and 8 years of research and development.
As a result, the aligners fit more snugly and can deliver a consistent and gentle pressure to move your teeth. You can experience more comfortable wear with a consistent force needed for teeth movement.
With SmartForce® attachments, tooth movements such as rotation, extrusions and translations are now feasible! These barely noticeable, tiny tooth-coloured shapes are attached to your teeth before and during your treatment process.
They act as grips for your aligners, giving them something to push on and guiding your teeth into the desired positions more effectively.
In 2014, i.Dental was appointed by Align Technology as the Invisalign Dedicated Clinic in Singapore. And as an Invisalign Dedicated Clinic, we are committed to bringing new and better solutions for our patients.
The sheer hard work coupled with our accumulated experience have allowed us to attain our level of proficiency and skill. We strive to uphold this standard by continuously challenging ourselves to keep abreast of evolving treatment techniques and technology.
We have achieved the Black Diamond Invisalign provider tier for 7 years (2015 – 2017 and 2019 – 2022), having completed more than 450 cases annually. We are also proud to be a Blue Diamond Invisalign Provider in Singapore in 2018, with 750 Invisalign cases completed.
To date, we have completed over 4,600 Invisalign cases!
At i.Dental, we strongly believe in using digital or computer-aided dentistry to improve the dental experience for all our patients.
This includes using iTero scanner to get a 3D model of your teeth instead of using mould. Digital x-rays systems are adopted which emits lower dosage of radiation to produce the x-rays instantly.
Dental Monitoring is also introduced for our Invisalign patients which allows our dentists to track your Invisalign progress and reach out to you more promptly if they find that your aligners are not fitting well.
You will kickstart your Invisalign journey by having a consultation with our dentists so that we can understand your needs and concerns for your treatment.
An oral examination, x-ray scans, 3D images of your teeth using the iTero Element Scanner and photos of your dental and facial profile will be taken as part of your diagnostics records.
Find out what to expect during your first consultation in this video:
Our dentists will go through your diagnostic records in detail with you so you can better understand your teeth condition.
We will then provide you with the available options, prices and duration of these treatments as well as a simulation of what your teeth will look like after Invisalign.
Once you are ready to embark on the Invisalign journey, our dentists will customise an Invisalign ClinCheck®* plan for you.
Through this software, you will be able to see the expected movement of your teeth at each stage from the start to the end of your treatment even before it begins.
In 4-6 weeks, your custom-made Invisalign aligners will be ready and issued to you. Our dentist will then guide you on how to wear your aligners properly.
Aligners have to be changed every 10-14 days and worn for at least 20-22 hours every day.
Dental Monitoring** uses AI technology; you can upload photos to the smartphone app so that our dentists can monitor your treatment on a weekly basis.
This allows a reduction in the number of physical follow-up appointments (from once every 6-8 weeks to once every 8-12 weeks or even longer).
At the end of your treatment, your attachments will be removed and your teeth will be cleaned prior to a final iTero scan to manufacture the post-treatment retainers.
Maintain your new smile by wearing retainers to bed every night. We provide a range of retainers for you to choose from – fixed or removable retainers (i.e. clear, Hawley or Vivera).
If you have just completed your Invisalign, we will recommend you to go with Vivera retainers which is manufactured by Invisalign. According to Align Technology, itts material is at least 30% stronger and twice as durable as other leading clear retainer materials.
*3D simulation video of the ‘before’ and ‘after’ of your teeth-straightening process, including an estimation of the number of aligners you will need.
**This is an optional service. For a small additional fee, you gain access to a mobile app through which your dentist can remotely monitor your progress. This improves the convenience of your treatment.

Invisalign is a type of orthodontic braces that is clear and removable. On the other hand, braces are fixed onto your teeth and are easily visible. Other differences include:
Treatment duration can vary significantly depending on your condition and desired results.
A typical treatment can take about 1.5 to 2 years but there are orthodontic devices available from our clinic that you can use to speed up your treatment. Devices like Acceledent and VPRO5 are able to cut treatment time by as much as 50%.
It is recommended for you to wear it at least 22 hours per day.
Our dentists will create a customised digital treatment plan that maps out the exact movements of your teeth using the ClinCheck® program.
Your Invisalign clear aligners are then designed to apply the right amount of force to the right place at the right time based on your plan.
Our doctor will be with you every step of the way to monitor your progress and ensure your aligners fit correctly.
A physical review will be scheduled once every 8 – 12 weeks depending on your condition.
Alternatively, you can also opt for weekly Dental Monitoring to track your progress. All you need to do is to upload photos of your teeth onto the mobile app and our dentists will be able to monitor your treatment in real-time.
It will depend on your dentist’s instructions. Usually for the first few sets of aligners, you will change it every 10 days.
Our dentists will recommend the different types of retainers which you can wear. You will also be advised on the daily duration of wearing your retainers. This is to prevent your teeth from gradually shifting back to their initial position.
The price ranges from $3,499 – $9,180 depending on the complexity of your teeth condition.
At i.Dental, we offer both in-house and credit card financing as well as plans for students and National Servicemen.
Apart from the aligners required for treatment, our Invisalign packages are also inclusive of:
Attachments are small tooth-coloured shapes that are attached to the teeth using dental composites. They are placed in precise locations, acting as a grip for the aligners as they guide the teeth to their new positions.
During treatment, the clear aligners fit tightly around the attachments to move your teeth more effectively.
You will be required to go for a review once every 8 – 12 weeks for our dentists to check on your progress.
Refinements are used to fix any small imperfections after your Invisalign treatment is complete.
No, MediSave cannot be used for Invisalign treatment as it is a cosmetic procedure. You may only make claims for treatments that require surgery such as wisdom tooth surgery or dental implants.
