Invisalign Teen

Achieve a straighter smile within 12 – 24 months

What is Invisalign Teen?

Invisalign Teen is a form of orthodontic treatment which uses clear aligners to help teenagers achieve a straighter set of teeth. It provides a more aesthetic option compared to conventional braces as it is almost invisible.

With Invisalign Teen, teenagers can carry on with their daily activities without the restrictions and discomfort associated with braces.

Features of Invisalign Teen

  • Mandibular advancement

Invisalign Teen comes with mandibular advancement feature which is mainly used for correction of retrusive mandibles (underdeveloped) that results in excessive overjet.

Due to it being skeletal in nature, the mandibular advancement feature harnesses the growth potential of a growing teen to influence growth of the mandible (lower jaw) and treating the excess overjet as a result.

  • Eruption compensation

Eruption compensation is a feature in Invisalign Teen which helps provide the right amount of space and size to accommodate the natural eruption of canines and premolars while you are wearing the aligner.

It is dynamic and uses algorithms to guide and predict the ultimate shape and size of the new tooth that is going to erupt.

  • Blue wear indicators

These indicators fade from blue to clear and are designed to indicate wear time.

In the event that the aligners are not worn for the recommended 20 – 22 hours a day, the indicators will not fade to clear completely.

This encourages patients to be disciplined.

Benefits of Invisalign Teen

  • Virtually Invisible

Being almost invisible, you can now smile confidently while wearing your clear aligners.

In fact, according to the Invisalign Teen Confidence Survey, teenagers are 2x more likely to have a confidence boost wearing Invisalign aligners as compared to braces!

  • Easily Removable

Invisalign aligners can be removed easily, resulting in better dental hygiene as brushing and flossing of teeth are made easier.

You can also eat without restrictions.

  • Greater Comfort

Made from SmartTrack material, Invisalign aligners fit comfortably around the teeth while placing gentle, constant pressure on the teeth to move it into the desired position.

Additionally, with these aligners, you will not experience the pain or irritation caused by wires and brackets as with braces.

Am I Suitable for Invisalign Teen?

Evaluating whether a patient is suitable for Invisalign Teen is dependent on their dentition condition.

Invisalign Teen is suitable for teens with permanent, erupting permanent, or mixed dentition.

  • Permanent dentition: Full set of 32 permanent teeth
  • Erupting permanent dentition: Permanent teeth that have erupted and are growing
  • Mixed dentition: Presence of both primary teeth and permanent teeth

What Dental Problems Can Invisalign Teen Fix?

  • Overbite

An overbite occurs when your upper teeth overlap your lower teeth. Overlapping by a small amount is common. However, more severe cases of overbite may cause pain when eating or chewing.

  • Underbite (Reverse overjet)

An underbite is the overlapping of your lower jaw over the upper jaw. Patients suffering from more serious cases of underbite may face difficulties when eating, chewing or speaking.

  • Spacing

Teeth spacing refers to significant gaps between two or more teeth. This may cause speech problems and food pieces to get stuck between the spaces more easily.

  • Overcrowding

Overcrowding occurs when there is insufficient space in your jaw for new teeth to grow. As a result, some teeth may be pushed behind or in front of other teeth, or grow in a twisted position.

  • Crossbite

A crossbite is a dental condition where the teeth of your upper jaw fit behind the teeth of your lower jaw. This may cause tooth decays or difficulty speaking.

  • Open bite

Open bite refers to the condition where your upper and lower incisors are not touching when your mouth is closed. This may result in teeth sensitivity and possibly speech issues such as a lisp.

FAQs

You are evaluated on whether you are suitable for Invisalign Teen based on your dentition condition instead of your age.

Patients with permanent, erupting permanent, or mixed dentition are suitable candidates.

Invisalign Teen treatment typically takes 12 – 24 months.

However, treatment time may vary according to the severity of your teeth misalignment and compliance with the treatment plan.

Invisalign aligners must be worn for 20 – 22 hours daily.

You should only remove the aligners when eating and cleaning your teeth.

The aligners should be changed approximately every 1 – 2 weeks.

If you lose your aligners, please contact us immediately to get a replacement so that you can continue with your treatment plan as soon as possible.

You will have to wear your retainers after the treatment ends. Wearing retainers will ensure that your teeth do not shift back to their original positions over time.

If the retainers become discoloured, start to fall apart or no longer fit your teeth, they should be replaced.
